Estate cars were already interesting in 1962! In a very detailed test report, the new VW 1500 Variant with all its technology was put through its paces. The report was completed by many individual observations and operating cost calculations. This article reproduces the original wording of the Motor-Rundschau test report of the time, supplemented by many contemporary pictures.
