Summary
What do the world's first four-wheel drive car, the Golden Coach of the Dutch court and the C8 Spyder have in common? This article explains how the neo-classic C8 Spyder came about and shows the car and its predecessors in many pictures.

In 1898, the two laid the foundations for their automobile production with a vehicle that was no longer pulled by cloven hooves but powered by a Benz engine. Their vehicles were characterized by first-class workmanship and high-quality materials and quickly gained a good reputation. The delivery of the "Golden Coach" to Queen Wilhelmina, also in 1898, was the proverbial accolade.
