If you were looking for an inexpensive car in the mid-1970s that you could drive to work and had a chance of winning a class in a slalom or hill climb race at the weekend, the Simca 1000 Rallye 2 was a must-have. Yet his concept was already around 15 years old. The basic Simca 1000 model was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961. The small saloon with four doors, rear engine and space for up to five people had compact dimensions with a length of 3.8 meters and a width of 1.49 meters. The shape was reminiscent of a hatbox, with cubic lines. The weight was well under 1000 kg. With 32 hp, of course, there was no rush of power, but Simca upgraded.
