Beautiful and fast - Porsche 1300 S - favorite in the salon and on the racetrack

In order to keep up with the international GT sport in the newly defined 1300 class, Porsche presented a particularly fast Porsche 356 1300 Super in 1953, which had been boosted to 60 hp using recipes from motor racing. The well-known car connoisseur Richard von Frankenberg subjected this new model to an intensive test for the magazine 'hobby' and came to some interesting conclusions. This article reproduces the original wording of the test report at the time and shows many pictures of the early Porsche 356.

The motor show that takes place every fall in Paris is simply known among experts as 'the Salon'. This year it took place for the fortieth time, and once again it was the meeting place for experts from all over the world. They discovered that Porsche had once again quietly developed a new series model, which bears the type designation 1300 Super. From the outside, this car looks exactly like the other Porsche cars. It is a coupé with two seats in the front and a small bench seat for two children (or one adult, sitting crossways) in the rear of the car. The 1300 S has the now familiar Porsche ring synchronized gearbox, a full-length windscreen and large brakes with cooling fins, which were developed directly from racing experience.
