Photo Gallery «Not just for heavy metal guitarists - Range Rover with four doors thanks to Swiss help»
The Range Rover, the forefather of the modern SUV in Europe, only had two doors when it was launched; it would be hard to imagine the Cayenne or the M-Class having this today. But it took the Swiss Peter Monteverdi to make the luxury off-roader a success in Europe with four doors. One of the early four-door vehicles went to heavy metal guitarist Tony Iommi and has survived to this day. This report tells the story of the four-door Range Rover and shows one vehicle each from production at Fissore and at the Solihull plant, supplemented by historical photographs, a rare original sales brochure and audio samples.
