With the presentation of the Porsche 930 Turbo, the factory created a new width, the classic 911 became significantly wider. Not only Turbo buyers liked this new look, so Porsche soon offered the wide fenders for normal 911s too. And has stuck with it to this day. Readers with an affinity for Porsche will already know that WTL stands for "Werks Turbo Look". Actually, the widening was originally only supposed to be called "Turbo Look" (TL), but similar to the performance upgrades (WLS = Werksleistungssteigerung), the ingredient "W" has become established in common Porsche language to denote changes directly ex works.
