Cowboys are amusing fellows. Who hasn't admired them when they ride across the prairie on fiery mustangs - at least on the big screen. When they pull off the most daring escapades in their daredevilry, get into a thousand dangers and yet have every movement of their spirited horse under control at all times. But - hand on heart! - who would voluntarily sit in the saddle with such a 1-horsepower hero? Well - I took the plunge! I didn't entrust myself to a Tom Mix from the Wild West, but to a motor cowboy from Bavaria, but there was not just 1 hp under our 'saddle', but no less than 140! We weren't racing across the Cinema Scope prairie either, but along the roads of the Federal Republic of Germany, and our fiery Mustang didn't have an Indian-sounding name like 'Wildvogel' or 'Windsbraut', but was simply called the BMW 507. And the horsepower cowboy I want to tell you about wasn't called Old Shatterhand or Buffalo Bill either, but Schorsch Meier, and didn't wear a floppy hat, but a white sports cap. But I can't say that our ride together was any less exciting and thrilling because of that....
