The last specially bodied Maserati 3500 GT was built in 1966. Not Allemano, Bertone or Frua, but Moretti was behind the unique coupé, which, however, did not please all onlookers. The Moretti-Maserati has survived, this article describes and shows it in historical and current pictures.

Allemano, Bertone, Boneschi, Frua and even Touring itself built "Fuoriserie" versions of the successful Maserati 3500 GT sports car. Some were more successful, others less so. It was not until late, in 1966, that Moretti joined this illustrious company, and the resulting coupé was to be even more controversially discussed (or ignored) than most before it. Giovanni Moretti had already switched from motorcycles to automobiles in his Turin workshop in 1927. In 1945, he founded his own company called "Moretti, Fabbrica Automobili e Stabilimenti Carrozzerie S.a.S.". The company built individual alternatives to Fiat models, but also completely independent vehicles. Moretti preferred small series, special bodywork was not his preference. Exceptions confirm the rule.
