Too often we are inclined to look at cars purely from the point of view of reason. And just as often we are asked which is the best and most sensible car. There is no such thing, and you have to be satisfied with compromises. The Austin-Healey Sprite is a car that does not want any compromises and whose design its buyer and driver simply have to be satisfied with. Following on from the great era of sports cars more than thirty years ago, it may only evoke memories, but it stands alone in terms of the idea. This secured it enthusiasm throughout the world and big business for BMC. For its price of 8190 marks, with the Sprite having to swallow more than 2000 marks in customs duties, you undoubtedly get more car for your money in Germany, but not as much fun and originality. Reason is given short shrift. The "child in the man" is given a large playing field.
