In March 1950, the first Fuldamobil celebrated its world premiere in the first Fulda carnival procession after the war. For Bosch wholesaler Karl Schmitt and his designer Norbert Stevenson, this procession seemed just the right occasion to present the new three-wheeled mobile to the general public. Karl Schmitt owned a small company, "Elektromaschinenbau- Fulda", in addition to his wholesale business. In the summer of 1949, when the 32-year-old Stevenson showed the Fulda resident the construction plans for a miniature car design, Schmitt saw an opportunity to broaden his business base. A wooden frame was built on a three-wheeled tubular frame with an independent rear wheel, to which sheet steel was then nailed.
