After all, the design was already 14 years old and standard construction with a rigid rear axle was no longer in vogue. But the Capri 2.8 Injection extended the life of the family sports coupé once again and became one of the most popular models in the series. In 1969, Ford gave car drivers in Europe a reason to dream, as the Ford Capri was presented on January 21 of that year and the sporty coupé with its long hood and short rear end stole the sleep of many car buyers from then on. 12 years later, the Capri's glory had faded somewhat, but Ford engineers gave the family sports car a new boost by installing a 160 hp six-cylinder engine. The first edition of the Ford Capri did not shine with innovative engine technology or sophisticated chassis concepts. The Capri was a simply designed coupé suitable for everyday use for small families, offering individuality for little money with a sports car-like design and a wide range of options.
