More power and luxury - Ford 15 M in the (historic) test
Summary
The Ford Taunus 12 M, a child of a German-American marriage, really needs no introduction. It was comfortable, spacious and, with its pontoon shape, also stylish. Its big brother, the 15 M, offered all the best features of the 12 M, together with a more powerful engine and better equipment. However, it also inherited a few weaknesses from the 12 M. The magazine 'Motor-Rundschau' took a close look at the new 15 M in 1955. The value text of the test at that time is reproduced in full in this article, supplemented by many contemporary photographs and a sales brochure.

Today, the Ford Taunus "12 M" is so well known internationally that it hardly needs to be labeled. Remarkable for this Ford concept, which was the result of American-German cooperation, is the pontoon shape with large window areas and good utilization of track width and wheelbase, so that with a footprint of 6.4 m2 a quite comfortable four-seater with good legroom, also in the rear, was created. The comfortable interior was a decisive factor for many, as was the often acknowledged soft suspension. For a sporty driving style, however, this resulted in a somewhat bouncy compliance that was not always convincing on winding roads. This was particularly true of the Taunus "15 M", which had the same basic shape and was made for spirited, sporty driving thanks to its powerful engine. This already outlines the "15 M": it has the same body as the "12 M", just with a slightly different "face" and a slightly different, very comfortable interior.
