There are only a few cars that appear completely new on the market and can immediately be considered a great success. Even with such exemplary new designs, a few flaws can usually still be found. The path of constant further development is more reliable. The Fiat 850 is a classic example of this. Its predecessor was the Type 600, but it cannot be said that it was actually still in its infancy. On the contrary, it was one of the extraordinarily successful small cars. Compared to the 600, however, the Fiat 850 is an adult. The difference in all essential aspects - such as performance, space and handling - is much greater than the difference between the two numbers 600 and 850 would suggest.
