Summary
Between 1954 and 1964, Jean C. Daninos built the extravagant Facel-Vega with a V8 engine as a coupé and, in small doses, also as a convertible. With this luxury Gran Turismo, he followed in the footsteps of the great French brands Delage, Delahaye and even Bugatti. Equipped with American V8 engines, the cars were of high quality but also very expensive, which limited sales to a few hundred units. This report portrays a Facel-Vega FV3 from 1957 and explains the ten-year development history.

Daninos for manufacturing or design faults, but at the time, driving error was probably suspected as the cause of the accident that ended the philosopher's life against a tree. Daninos had other problems in the mid-fifties anyway, because his large industrial company, which in addition to kitchen equipment, generators and engine components, mainly built car bodies, was threatened with losing customers in this sector because they were either bought up (Ford France went to Simca) or took over car body construction themselves (Panhard).
