Sergio Scaglietti was a master of hand-crafted body curves, and sheet aluminum was his preferred material. Each Ferrari 250 GTO was both a masterpiece and a unique specimen. It may come as a surprise that this coachbuilder also produced plastic vehicles, even with the prancing horse on the front in the form of the Ferrari 308 GTB, but there were tangible reasons for this. In the fall of 1973, Ferrari presented the Dino 308 GT 4 in Paris as the successor to the 246 GT. It was intended to create sufficient distance from the increasingly strong competition from Porsche, Lamborghini and Maserati. The newcomer, which offered space for four people despite its mid-engine design, met these requirements with a top speed of just under 250 km/h, not least thanks to the new V8 engine with 255 hp in accordance with the Italian measurement standard.
