Summary
It is easy to understand why Abba frontmen Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson opted for a BMW 633 CSi in 1977: after all, the car represented the pinnacle of what BMW could offer at the time. Test reports praised its comfort, performance and handling, and the BMW coupé performed very well compared to the competition at the time. This vehicle report describes the history of the E24 series coupé and shows it in many pictures.

The fact that Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson opted for a BMW 633 CSi in 1977 is certainly no coincidence. The pair, who together with Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad formed the hugely successful pop group Abba, chose one of the best coupés of the 1970s, which could easily accommodate four people and still carry plenty of luggage. They could certainly afford the car, after all, Abba was on the road to success, the albums were awarded gold and platinum, the singles stormed the charts. On October 15, 1975, the first two production vehicles of the E24 series, a 630 CS and a 633 CSi, rolled off the production line, but the official presentation took place at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1976.
