There are not very many Aston Martin cars that attempted to take part in the Monte-Carlo Rally, especially after the war. Ken Carter's Aston Martin DB 2/4 was one of these exceptions. Carter's Aston Martin was no ordinary car, however. Optimized with a DB3S cylinder head , a few extra horses powered the GT car. Nevertheless, the Monte Carlo participation with co-driver R. Ropner was not crowned with success. In the end, the Jaguar Mark VII with the Adams-Bigger-Johnstone team won in 1956 (in order to be prepared for the long stages, some teams drove with more than two drivers).
