Summary
The fifties are regarded as the era in which the most beautiful special bodies were created. Some of them were shaped in Wichtrach near Bern and bore the elegant lettering Graber on their flanks. The Swiss coachbuilder Hermann Graber clad vehicles of many brands, but a significant proportion came from the Alvis brand, which celebrates its 100th birthday in 2019. This driving report describes the history of the Alvis TC 108G Graber Coupé and shows an example in many pictures, supplemented by sales literature, historical photographs and technical drawings.

Preview (beginning of the article)
Alongside Bentley and Citroën, the Alvis brand also celebrated its 100th birthday in 2019, but compared to the manufacturers that are still active today, it has received far less attention. Hardly anyone knows that Alvis vehicles are still being built today, while Bentley and Citroën continue to be the stars of the world's motor shows with their modern range. Alvis, on the other hand, offers so-called "continuation" models, which are built according to the original plans, although some concessions have to be made due to changes in legislation (emissions, safety). In the 1950s, the survival of the Alvis car division was hanging by a thread and if it had not been for the Swiss Alvis importer Hermann Graber, the elegant coupés, convertibles and saloons of the 1950s and 1960s, which are admired for their understated beauty at concours and club meetings, would probably not exist.
