Alfa Romeo 2000 Gran Turismo Veloce in the (historic) car test
Summary
The Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 was the most powerful model in the coupé series produced between 1963 and 1976, which was designed by Bertone. Over 220,000 units were produced and the fan community was considerable. The magazine 'hobby' was also clearly one of them, as the test report published in 1973 mainly highlighted strengths, along with a few weaknesses. This article reproduces the original wording of the test at the time and illustrates the car with many archive photos.

Slipping into an Alfa Romeo and feeling at ease is the first impression it gives. Alfa Romeo is classic automotive history, racing success and exclusivity, but Alfa Romeo is also superior driving performance, safety and comfortable sportiness. The 2000 GTV is the provisional end of the 1300, 1600 and 1750 model series. The first model in this series appeared at the 1963 Turin Motor Show under the name Giulia Sprint GT - a pretty 2 + 2 coupé that went into series production in spring 1964. Even then, it had four disc brakes and the now world-famous five-speed gearbox. With two horizontal Weber twin carburetors, the twin-camshaft engine developed 106 hp at 6000 rpm.
