Good books sell out quickly, including this detailed work about the fascinating "Group 5", which was first published by Petrolpics (the publisher) in 2010. Due to high demand, a 2nd edition has now been produced.
Anyone who is not familiar with this book and goes into raptures about vehicles such as the Porsche 935, BMW 320 Group 5, Zakspeed Capri Turbo or Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo should consider buying this work with a recommendation from us.
"Group 5" is a book that sheds light on the famous motorsport era in an entertaining and very informative way.
The cars of the silhouette formula
Among the most spectacular racing cars are undoubtedly the vehicles of Group 5, the silhouette formula introduced in 1976, which were to retain at least the side profile of their series brothers, but were otherwise subject to very liberal regulations.
After a short and concise intro about the regulations and the racing series, the individual teams and their vehicles are presented chronologically. First the works entries from Porsche, Lancia and BMW, then the teams such as Kremer, Schnitzer, Joest, GS, Zakspeed etc.

Also a book for technology freaks
Even technology fans won't miss out in this book. Three chapters on the inner workings of the silhouette formula inspire thanks to an interesting perspective, namely that of the racing mechanic of the time:
Ex-BMW racing engineer Rainer Bratenstein tells us the background to the creation of the BMW 320 Group 5 car, ex-racing mechanic Michael Sauer tells us about the Kremer-Porsche 935 K4 and ex-Ford racing engineer Thomas Ammerschläger tells us about the Zakspeed-Ford Capri Turbo.
In addition to previously unpublished photos from the workshops, you can also find out all the technical data. Too bad only three such technical chapters were written...
Previously unpublished photos
The selection of photos is truly sensational, and you can often enjoy the magnificent shots in full-page size. The photos tell their own stories, and you quickly lose yourself in these never-before-seen testimonies.
