An informative and exciting special exhibition can currently be admired at the Auto & Traktor Museum in Uhldingen-Mühlhofen on Lake Constance. The show illustrates the development of the Beetle with many examples as well as some amusing modifications. Over 30 different Beetles, from the "Pretzel Beetle" from 1951 to the last VW Beetle "Última Edición" from 2003, are on display in the museum.
The approximately 70-year history of the VW Beetle is technically, politically and economically highly exciting and entertaining. The visitor is presented with a detailed explanation of the exciting history of the VW Beetle, supplemented with many informative pictures. The special show is supplemented with tools, utensils, posters and various everyday objects to give visitors an understanding of the zeitgeist of the Beetle era.
One highlight is the pretzel beetle from 1951. 95% of this pretzel beetle is original, making it an absolute rarity that will make every collector's heart beat faster.
The orange Topchop is sure to catch the visitor's eye. A 1303 built in 1972, the roof of this Beetle has been sawn off and lowered, making it a Topchop. The Beetle also has an airride chassis.
The museum is open daily from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm in the high season from May to October. In the low season, it is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm.
