On August 10, the "BMW Group Switzerland" organized its first meeting for enthusiasts of the Group brands in Dielsdorf. From 10:00 to 16:00, BMW enthusiasts and fan clubs, classic BMW and Mini dealers and numerous owners of classic cars of the Bavarian brand met in the so-called "Brand Experience Center". In keeping with the name of the event, all vehicle exhibitors received two white sausages and a pretzel free of charge.
The occasion for the first "Wheels & Weisswürscht" in Switzerland was a new "BMW Group Classic" certification program for classic car dealers specializing in BMW classic cars. These local, certified partner companies are supported in their work by the Munich headquarters with technical questions, the procurement of spare parts or the reproduction of special tools and are supported with data and information from the factory archive.
There are currently already two certified BMW dealers in Switzerland who offer this service. The new certification program aims to expand the service throughout Switzerland by 2025. To this end, dealers must prove their expertise in historic BMW automobiles and motorcycles as well as Mini cars from the R50 series upwards. In addition, a suitable range of corresponding special tools must be available. BMW offers special training courses for the employees of the dealerships concerned.
