Vintage Tours, the specialist for classic car tours on the Iberian Peninsula, is expanding its portfolio with a tour that combines the experience of the Douro Valley and its wine culture with the experience of Portugal's automotive history in Caramulo. The tours will be offered from October 2026 and can be booked now.
The carefully curated journey will first take guests from Porto to the world-famous Douro Valley, where they will have the opportunity to experience the impressive landscape and traditional wine culture of this unique wine-growing region. Between terraced vineyards, historic quintas and breathtaking panoramas, the drive in the classic MGA Roadster is an unforgettable experience. Overnight stays in traditional wine hotels and a visit to the internationally famous Palacio de Matéus allow guests to immerse themselves in the rich history of this region.
The second part of the tour leads over picturesque mountain passes through central Portugal to the culturally rich region of Caramulo. The route covers many kilometers of the legendary and charming N2 national road, which has also made a name for itself internationally as it connects the northernmost and southernmost points of Portugal. A special highlight is a visit to the traditional Museu do Caramulo, which houses one of the most important collections of classic cars in Portugal.
In the adjacent Caramulo Experience Center, guests can also gain exclusive insights into the elaborate restoration of historic vehicles as well as a fascinating look behind the scenes of Portuguese automotive history and the famous hill climb, the Rampa de Caramulo, which is held every year as part of the Caramulo Motor Festival. The overnight stay is in the elegant Valverde Santar Hotel & Spa, a hotel with an impressive history that invites guests to relax and enjoy the exclusive atmosphere after a day of driving and adventure.
The following day, the route leads over winding and impressive mountain pass roads through the Serra de Montemuro back to the Douro Valley: an impressive ride through the scenic diversity of central Portugal before guests finally return to Porto.
With this new stage, Vintage Tours is expanding its offer with a driving-intensive and multi-faceted trip, which is particularly aimed at guests who want to experience the heart of Portuguese automotive history in addition to the pleasure of driving and the beauty of the landscape.
