The 20th Silver Flag will take place this year from June 19 to 21, 2015. Over 170 vehicles have registered for the hill climb in Vernasca in the Italian province of Piacenza to celebrate the best of Italy.
Prominent participants
The Italian Sandro Munari and Henri Pescarolo from France, both former racing and rally drivers, will be taking part this year in a 1970 Lancia Fulvia 1.6 HF and a rare 1968 Matra-Ford MS 630.
Other notable entries include a 1954 Maserati A6GCS Berlinetta Pininfarina, which is one of four examples built with a Pininfarina body, a 1936 Maserati 6/4 CM, which was the first car produced and took part in the Montecarlo GP as a works car, as well as many other brands such as Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Bugatti, Ferrari, Jaguar and Porsche.
Forerunner event in Piacenza
On May 9 and 10, Silver Flag took to the streets of Piacenza to revive the traditional 'Circuito di Piacenza' in preparation for the event in June. Over 40 classic cars found their way there and everyone completed eight laps divided into two groups on the original circuit, just like in the 1947 race.
Chris Routledge, managing partner of international auction house Coys and sponsor of the Silver Flag, said: "We have supported the Silver Flag for eight years now and are thrilled to be able to sponsor this additional event as an excellent precursor to the hill climb."
