Even though 2020 got off to a bumpy start for the Technik Museen Sinsheim and Speyer, some normality has returned in recent months. Visitor numbers increased again, there was a drive-in movie theater in Speyer for the first time and successful events such as classic car and tuning meetings took place at both locations.
The palate continues to be spoiled
The decision that museums will have to close again for the time being from November 2, 2020 has hit the Technik Museen hard. The IMAX cinemas of the two leisure facilities are also affected and will remain closed until the end of November. However, the museums will not be completely deserted this time. Stores and hotels will remain open at both locations. The catering services will also remain open. Culinary delicacies to take away will be available in the Sinsheim museum restaurant daily from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm and in the Speyer museum bistro daily from 11 am to 3 pm. The Speyer menu includes freshly fried burgers, crispy pizza and authentic pasta from pizza chef Mike. All dishes are prepared directly on site and can be ordered and collected on +49 62 32 670834. Information about the menu can be found here.
The restaurant in Sinsheim is relying on what is already tried and tested and is offering two special promotions: On Wednesday, November 11 and Sunday, December 6, the museum team will be delivering pre-ordered "Genießer-Museums-Vesperpakete" (gourmet museum snack packages) in a maximum radius of 25 kilometers around Sinsheim in true style with vintage cars. The May 1st delivery campaign proved to be a complete success back in spring.
Looking for a gift?
Anyone looking for a gift for the upcoming Christmas season should take a look at the museum stores. They are open daily from 11 am to 3 pm. Whether you are a technology fan, bookworm, model maker or collector - the range is varied and offers something for every taste. Specialist books and models are particularly popular, as are fan articles about the museums and Brazzeltag. For the little museum fans, there are T-shirts, toys and books about Star Wars or Marvel superheroes, for example. The new museum honey from museum member Moritz Laub from Kraichgau has just arrived. Honey is an ideal companion in the cold season. Whether in tea or on bread - it tastes good and supports the immune system.
True to the museum's motto "For fans by fans", a new fan package is now available in the online store. This includes the large museum book, a pin, a mouth and nose protector, a capi and the new memo game, all in the Technik Museum design, of course. All products are available in the online store.
As a non-profit organization, the museums live from admission fees and membership contributions. The renewed closure will not be easy. But the museum team is not burying its head in the sand this time either. Plans for coronavirus-compliant special events are set to continue in 2021. And until then, you can pass the time with a Technik Museum shopping tour followed by pizza or a portion of cheese spaetzle and support the two leisure facilities in the process. Up-to-date information about the museums can be found on the website or on Facebook.
