Many years ago, the so-called car market took place just outside Zurich in Oerlikon. Anyone who wanted to sell their car, at that time mostly used cars because hardly anyone was interested in classic cars, simply paid a small fee and parked their vehicle in the designated parking lot. During the day, people interested in buying would come, ask questions, bargain and perhaps buy the car on offer.
Martin Studach also remembered this idea when he organized his first Swiss Car Auction. Since then, the concept has flourished and combines the advantages of online marketplaces, auctions and the Oerlikon car market.
Simply offer
If you have one or more vehicles to offer, you can register them online on the Swiss-Car-Auction website. On the day of the auction, they then place the cars in the designated spaces in Chur to take part in the auction.
Simply buy
The "Swiss-Car-Auction" model is uncomplicated for potential buyers:
From around three weeks before a planned auction, a prospective buyer can view and compare the offers on the Swiss-Car-Auction website. Depending on the situation, they can contact and visit the garage offering the vehicle, discuss the conditions and even take a test drive.
The buyer can then bid for the selected car at the auction; no down payment is required.
Unrivaled favorable conditions
The consignment fee per car offered is CHF 180 (CHF 90 for motorcycles) for the seller. The buyer pays a surcharge of 5%, with a minimum of CHF 400 and a maximum of CHF 1800 (half the amount for motorcycles). This surcharge is inclusive of VAT. No-limit offers do not incur any fees for the seller, while the buyer pays a fixed surcharge of CHF 180.
If a vehicle does not reach its minimum bid at the auction, interested parties and sellers may still be able to reach an agreement afterwards.
Register vehicles now
The next auction will take place on September 6, 2014 in Chur. Vehicles can now be registered online. Registration is required for this, but can be done easily on the Swiss-Car-Auction website.
Further information and the current offer can always be found on the Swiss-Car-Auction website.
