One of the most successful and popular German racing drivers, Hans-Joachim Stuck, drives the entire Ennstal-Classic in the Porsche team.
Born in Garmisch Partenkirchen in 1951, "Strietzel" has long since achieved legendary status, as he won the Nürburgring 24 Hours back in 1970 at the age of 19, and it was not until 2011 that he ended his active career - also at the Nürburgring.
Successful
An impressive career of success lies between the first start and the last chequered flag. Between 1974 and 1979, he made 74 Formula 1 starts: he never got a top car with March, Brabham, Shadow and ATS, so he had to make do with 29 world championship points and two podium finishes.
In all other categories - Formula 2, touring cars and sports cars, however, he was absolutely world class. Between 1984 and 1996, he contested no fewer than 89 races in the DTM, of which he won 13. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice in a Porsche 962C: in 1986 and 1987 with Derek Bell and Al Holbert, and finished second in 1988 with Klaus Ludwig and Derek Bell.
From BMW to Volkswagen (and Porsche)
In 1988 and 2004 he won the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in a BMW, and in 1972 he became German champion in a Ford Capri. When he once formed a team with Nelson Piquet at the Nürburgring in an 800 hp turbo BMW, the Brazilian Formula 1 star resigned: he could not match the lap times of "Strietzel"...
...
In 2008, he moved to the VW Group as a motorsport representative...
Strietzel" will be driving a Porsche 356 Carrera GT at the Ennstal-Classic.
