Fans of historic vehicles will get their money's worth at the Steckborn Memorial Hill Climb 2018: 280 vehicles - cars built between 1916 and 1986 and motorcycles from 1930 to 1975 - will take to the Eichhölzli hill climb on September 22/23.
The most beautiful hill climb in Switzerland
All is still quiet at Untersee and along the "most beautiful hill climb circuit in Switzerland", but the garages are busy working on and cleaning the classic cars to ensure they shine both mechanically and visually at the hill climb.
A really wide range of vehicles is expected - from the 1956 Spatz 200 (with a displacement of 196 cc) to the March 781 Formula 1 from 1978, whose owner Marcel Tobler from Erlen is unlikely to be able to fully develop its 520 hp on the mountain track. But the sound alone is enough to make fans' hearts beat faster.
On the other hand, it will be rather quiet when looking into the automotive future: Among the electric vehicles on display, the BMW i8 and Kyburz eRod will show the public just how breathtaking almost silent acceleration can be.
Visitors with classic cars have right of way
Visitors arriving in classic cars (1986 and older) can benefit from a special offer: A separate VIP parking lot is available near the paddocks. The complete package, including day admission for two people, grandstand seats, VIP parking and program booklet, costs CHF 50. Advance registration is requested.
Concours d'Elégance
Anyone who dresses appropriately for the era of the vehicle, i.e. matches their clothing to the vehicle's vintage, can take part in the Concours d'Elégance.
A jury will evaluate the entries and the winners will receive original Steckborn money donated by the Steckborn Trade, Commerce and Tourism Association (HGT) or day tickets for the Swiss Lake Constance boat trip as prizes. Registration can be made together with the administrative acceptance.
