One of the most spectacular car collections in the world is opening to the public: The Loh Collection National Automobile Museum opens in Dietzhölztal-Ewersbach on July 23, 2023. Among the 150 or so vehicles built from 1886 onwards are numerous one-offs, prototypes and milestones in automotive history - from Kennedy's Lincoln Continental to a Bugatti Type 57 Atalante, Michael Schumacher's first world championship Ferrari and the Maybach Exelero, a record-breaking vehicle that was only built once.
University campus of the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences
Due to its size and excellent curation, the museum will even be of particular importance for research and teaching. The "University Campus National Automobile Museum of the Faculty of Business and Law of Nürtingen-Geislingen University" will begin its work at the opening. The lectures and live demonstrations will be under the direction of Prof. Jochen Buck, the leading expert for accident research in Germany. The museum offers a variety of educational programs for schools and universities that is unparalleled in Germany. This also includes the so-called "History Workshop". It introduces visitors to the industrial history of the Lahn-Dill district and will inspire many young people to pursue a technical education.
Special exhibition "100 years of the 24 Hours of Le Mans"
Regular special exhibitions are already in preparation. The first is "100 years of the 24 Hours of Le Mans" with more than 20 original racing cars from 1928 to the present day - a spectacular show that has hardly ever been seen in Europe.
Fascination on wheels: around 150 selected vehicles from 1886 to the present day
The modern exterior design of the 7500-square-metre halls reveals the charm of original, historic industrial buildings. The eye-catcher is a steep curve with the icons of automotive history. Behind it, an oversized display case sets the scene for almost 30 sports and racing cars. The National Automobile Museum also has a large collection of engines, cutaway models and technical exhibits - from steam engines to electric car platforms.
Museum founder Prof. Dr. Friedhelm Loh: "These unique exhibits stand for courage, innovative strength, pioneering design, craftsmanship and attention to detail. I cordially invite all people who are enthusiastic about the fascination on wheels and the technology in the vehicles to visit us at the new National Automobile Museum."
