There are many special car races in the world: the oldest, the longest, the most famous, the most dangerous. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the few that can score points in all of these areas: world-famous thanks to the Hollywood film with Steve McQueen, infamous due to the 1955 disaster, particularly long anyway and now a whole century old. This anniversary is the occasion for three magazines from the Motor Presse Stuttgart media house to jointly publish a lavishly designed special edition.
From May 5, 2023, the joint production "100 Years of Le Mans" by auto motor und sport, MOTORSPORT aktuell and sport auto will be available in dealerships and can also be ordered online (also as an e-paper).
"The truly unique thing about Le Mans is the special love of the fans for this race, which gives it its real meaning," says Marcus Schurig, Editor-in-Chief of Motorsport-Magazine, under whose direction the special edition was created. For almost two weeks, people flock from all directions, many come every year, and there is a very special fan culture surrounding the actual event. "It's always said that Le Mans is a big public festival during which a car race breaks out - and that's exactly right."
On 132 pages, the most experienced motorsport editors of the three magazines describe the multifaceted history of "24h du Mans", shed light on the development of new technologies, tell the stories of legends and outsiders and take a look at current technical developments and innovations as well as the future of the racing classic. The anniversary issue is rounded off with informative background reports on the track and the regulations as well as on teams and manufacturers.
