Since November 10, 2017, the "automobile world eisenach" museum has been inviting visitors to the new special exhibition "90 years of DIXI DA1 and `BMW-DIXI'".
With six selected vehicles of all types of this legendary model series, the exhibition commemorates the fact that a new chapter in automotive history began with the takeover of the Austin license and the introduction of assembly line production in Eisenach in 1927.
The small Dixi's from Eisenach quickly caught on in Germany and even if they did not bring the Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach AG any economic luck, these small cars were still a significant argument for BMW's entry into the automobile industry.
After purchasing the Eisenach plant in 1928, BMW quickly improved the small models and extended the model series from the DA 2 to the DA 4, so that the small BMW 3/15PS is still synonymous with the legendary small cars from Eisenach today as the "BMW-DIXI".
At the exhibition opening, museum director Matthias Doht thanked the six private lenders who are making their little treasures available to the automobile museum over the winter months. The exhibition, which was only possible thanks to the cooperation with the BMW-Stammtisch Westthüringen and the great voluntary commitment of the Automobilbau-Museum Eisenach e.V. association, can be seen until 31.03.2018 from Tuesday to Friday from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in the rooms of the automobile world eisenach museum.
