Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 edition of Swiss Classic World in Lucerne had to be canceled. The 2021 edition also cannot take place in May as originally planned and will now be held in the fall, from October 1 to 3, 2021 to be precise. By then, organizer Bernd Link hopes that the biggest problems of the pandemic will have been overcome and normal trade fair operations will be possible again.
Longer
In contrast to the first six editions, the Lucerne Classic Car Fair will be extended to three days for the first time by adding Friday. For exhibitors, this means longer use of the elaborate exhibition stands and more time for individual stand visitors. For trade fair visitors, the extra day allows for more intensive contact with exhibitors and fewer waiting times at stands. And, of course, distributing the flow of visitors also helps to manage any coronavirus restrictions in a targeted manner.
More interesting
The additional trade fair day is also a symposium day. Expert discussions will focus on an important topic for the classic car and youngtimer scene, namely the replacement of fossil petrol and diesel with synthetic fuels or e-fuels, with the aim of keeping combustion engines running in the future, when perhaps a significant proportion of the vehicle fleet has already been replaced by electric or hydrogen cars.
The Saturday of the fair will be dedicated to the theme of "Women and classic cars/youngtimers", while Sunday will celebrate "club life".
Clubs that may not want to set up a stand for three days can present themselves to the public on Sunday with various activities and draw attention to their concerns.
Tried and tested
Since it was first held in 2014, Swiss Classic World has proven to be a reliable partner for the classic car and modern classic car scene in Switzerland, and visitor numbers have grown steadily.
Organizer Bernd Link has also set himself high goals for the 2021 event at the beginning of October and it will be interesting to see what surprises he can come up with.
