In 1966, the Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera converted an example of the new Fiat 124 series into a convertible.
The car was first shown at the Turin Motor Show in 1966. The prototype was inspected by G. Agnelli, but although Fiat was impressed by the Touring prototype, the 124 Spider, developed in collaboration with Pininfarina, was given priority.
Film director Roberto Rossellini and the later Pope John Paul II are said to have ridden in the only example of the 124 Cabriolet Touring.
The convertible was restored in 1988 and is now for sale on eBay- without haste, according to the seller.
Interested parties who can spare USD 200,000 have the opportunity to view the car near Milan. Incidentally, the auction is due to end shortly.
