The 2nd edition of the Saalbach Classic will take place from August 20 to 24, 2014. Saalbach-Hinterglemm is the start and finish location. More than 630 km are on the program over the three rally days.
630 km through the most beautiful landscapes
After its premiere, the Saalbach Classic received much praise and applause. A clear mandate for the team. The continuation is guaranteed: the team around Walter Röhrl had already promised this after the chequered flag in August 2013.
The first edition of the Saalbach Classic offered participants a sporting challenge on roads against a magnificent backdrop.
The three-thousand-meter peaks of the Glockner Group, the Hohe Tauern National Park, the Hochkönig, the Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski paradise in midsummer - classic car driving could hardly be more beautiful.
The dream cars of our parents and grandparents in the middle of the Austrian Alps - and the host is once again the man whose sporting CV is forever linked to the well-maintained, loud accelerator pedal - Walter Röhrl!
Two driving days with a manageable track length
After the prologue on Thursday and the welcome evening at the Wallegg-Alm, the Glockner-Runde (360 km) and the Bayern-Runde (250 km) are two spectacular days full of adrenaline, sporting challenges and warm hospitality.
Details of the route were changed and optimized for 2014. After crossing the Grossglockner on Friday, the route this time leads from Heiligenblut via Oberdrauburg and the Drau Valley on to Gmünd/K for a lunch break.
The route to the north then branches off to the right before the Katschberg to Innerkrems. The wild and romantic Thomatal valley leads the Saalbach Classic towards Obertauern, Wagrain, Mühlbach/Hochkönig and Dienten.
Around 25 special stages await the sharpened stopwatches of the co-drivers.
Attractive vehicles
Many interesting and prominent vehicles have already been registered, such as an MG K3, a Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spider, a Bugatti T51 and a Morgan Threewheeler. Especially nice: Pre-war vehicles are guaranteed to start!
