On April 27 and 28, 2024, the 3rd edition of "Swiss RetroMecanika" took place for the first time at Palexpo in Geneva. A good 200 exhibitors were present. With around 15,000 m² of exhibition space in the hall, the diverse range of cars, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors, trucks, military equipment and coaches convinced even those visitors who had previously been skeptical about the move to Geneva.
The return of the club show was also pleasing. The "MG Grandmothers Car Club" brought 20 cars to Geneva to mark the 100th anniversary of the brand. In honor of the 90th anniversary of the Citroën Traction Avant, three examples of the legendary model series were on display. A large staging commemorated the Allied landings in Normandy 80 years ago.
Numerous vehicles from vanished brands demonstrated against oblivion in Geneva, such as cars from Pic-Pic, Maximag and Yaxa as well as motorcycles from Motorêve and Motosacoche. Cars from prominent previous owners were also on display, such as the Fiat 500 B (1948) of author Nicolas Bouvier and the private Hispano-Suiza K6 of designer Marc Birkigt.
The Dufaux racing car from 1907 and the 1914 prototype of the Dufaux motorcycle with a seven-cylinder radial engine served as advertising media for a new book entitled "Le siècle des Dufaux". Thierry Dubois, comic author and keeper of the memory of National Route 7, signed his publications on two days.
On Saturday afternoon, Arteal also held its first auction with more than 25 vehicles. On Sunday morning, a classic car tour offered the opportunity to explore the surrounding countryside. The parking lot for visitors arriving with vehicles at least 40 years old filled up very quickly.
The 4th Swiss RetroMecanika will take place again on May 3 and 4, 2025 at Palexpo in Geneva.
