The evenings beckon with long hours of sunshine and temperatures hover above the 20-degree mark. Convertibles are the order of the day, even when it comes to classic cars. Just in time for the start of summer, Catawiki has organized a special convertible auction that will run online from 18 June to 4 July 2021.
There are some specialties among the cars on offer that are worth a second look. For example, there is a 1949 Jaguar MK VI Cabriolet, which looks more than just statesmanlike and was estimated at EUR 145,000 to 160,000.
From the USA comes a 1935 Ford V8 Roadster, which originally ran in South Africa and later came to Niederlang. A lot has been invested in it over the years, so the estimated value of EUR 53,000 to 58,500 does not seem exaggerated.
The Mercedes-Benz Pagoda is one of the super classics. The 230 SL from 1964 on offer is in the color "Papyrus White" and was valued at EUR 131,000 to 145,000, currently over EUR 70,000 has already been bid.
A Chevrolet Corvette C1 from 1960 in light yellow paint with white flanks is expected to cost EUR 72,600 to 80,000. The car is now in Germany and is said to run reliably.
Among the most popular vehicles at auction are beach cars, of which Catawiki has several on offer.
For example, there is the Fiat 500 as a "Spiaggina Evocation" from 1971. The car has been completely restored and is now ready for a new owner in Italy for EUR 26,000 to 30,000.
The Citroën Méhari, a 1980 example on offer in Spain, is also very appealing. EUR 13,600 to 15,000 have been set for it.
And then there is the Autobianchi Bianchina from 1963, which was recently converted into a beach version and is now on offer in Italy for EUR 24,000 to 27,500.
It is worth taking a look at the entire list of cars on offer, because in addition to the cars mentioned, there are over 40 open-top classics up for auction, including the Porsche 911, Ford Thunderbird, Sunbeam Alpine, VW Kä1303 Cabriolet, MGB, Morgan 4/4, Chrysler Newport Convertible, Triumph TR3, Fiat 1500 Cabriolet, Mercedes R107, Austin-Healey Sprite (Froschauge), Jaguar XJS, Ford Mustang, Saab Turbo, Fiat X1/9 and many more.
