In the context of the Arizona Concours d'Elégance, RM/Sotheby's invites you to the Frank Lloyd-Wright-designed Arizona Bitmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix on January 26, 2023 to auction 88 automobiles and some automobilia.
On average, the 88 vehicles are around 44 years old and have been estimated at a total of USD 55.4 million. Each car is therefore expected to fetch around USD 629,000. However, no minimum bid is required for 56 percent of the vehicles to be successful.
36 vehicle brands
The brands most strongly represented in Arizona will be Porsche (12 vehicles), Mercedes-Benz (11) and Ferrari (9), with all other manufacturers represented by a handful of cars at most. At the other end of the brand spectrum are exotics such as Allard, Atalanta, Excalibus, Iso, Pegaso, Spyker and Talbot-Lago.
It is interesting to note that both the Porsche and Ferrari vehicles are younger than average. On average, the Porsches are less than 30 years old, as are the Ferraris.
16 cars in the seven-figure range
Prices in the seven-figure range are expected for 16 vehicles.
The most expensive are two Ferraris, a 2014 LaFerrari and a 1967 275 GTB/4, which are expected to fetch between USD 3 and 3.5 million.
It is followed by a Shelby 427 Competition Cobra from 1965, which has a film appearance in an Elvis movie, among other things, but can also shine in racing and has now been estimated at an impressive USD 3 to 3.6 million.
A 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV was also valued at an expected value of USD 3 to 3.5 million.
A 1969 Chevrolet Corvette ZL-1 was also estimated to be expensive, USD 2.6 to 3.0 is not an everyday price for a plastic convertible.
Two other Ferraris, a 1992 F40 and a 1966 500 Superfast Series II, complete the top ten in terms of value, along with a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, a 1987 Porsche 959 and a 1994 Bugatti EB110 GT.
Exotic cars from A to T
There is also no shortage of exotic cars in the RM range.
A 1952 Allard K2 Special Roadster is expected to fetch USD 175,000 to 215,000.
The asking price for a 1963 Apollo 3500 GT is USD 150,000 to 200,000.
A 1939 Atalanta 4.3 liter DHC was estimated at USD 900,000 to 1.2 million.
A 1957 DeSoto Adventurer Convertible is estimated to cost USD 175,000 to 250,000.
The 1953 Fiat 8V Coupé with Ghia body has an estimate of USD 1.1 to 1.3 million. In the same breath, the 1953 Chrysler Special Ghia, which has the big "mouth" in common with the Fiat, should perhaps also be mentioned.
A 1936 MG NB Magnette is offered for a comparatively modest USD 60,000 to 75,000.
At USD 550,000 to 650,000, the 1952 Pegaso Z-102 with Enasa bodywork is considerably more valuable, but is still reasonably priced in view of its importance.
A Spyker C8 Spyder from 2008 for USD 425,000 to 450,000 is even more affordable, while the Talbot-Lago T23 Major as a Chausson Cabriolet from 1939 is expected to fetch just USD 150,000 to 200,000.
All but two of the exotic cars mentioned here will go under the hammer without a reserve price!
A quarter of the cars are less than 20 years old
Whether Porsche Carrera GT, Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, Aston Martin V12 Zagato, Lexus LFA or Maserati MC20, the range of new classics is extensive.
However, only a few dare to start here with "No Reserve", which is probably why some cars could be left standing in this area in particular if the buying frenzy does not grab the Americans on January 26, 2023.
