There has been much to report in recent months about discord in the Swiss classic car scene, disputes and discussions, but now the goal of "one classic car association for Switzerland" seems to be within reach:
The preparations for the merger of the two umbrella organizations Fédération Suisse des Véhicules Anciens (FSVA) and Swiss Oldtimers (SO) have been completed. An equal committee of three board members each from FSVA and SO has prepared all the necessary documents over the last three months.
The presidents of the clubs affiliated to the two umbrella organizations have recently received the following documents for inspection and consultation:
- Merger agreement
This has already been approved and signed by the FSVA + SO boards. The clubs can accept or reject it at their delegates' meetings (FSVA and SO). And they have until the end of March to make suggestions. - The FSVA and SO balance sheets as at 31.12.2014 are part of the merger agreement in accordance with the Merger Act.
In addition, proposals for framework regulations relating to the new merged classic car umbrella organization have been formulated, namely
- Statutes of the new umbrella organization
- Organizational chart (only function, without persons)
- Membership fees / voting rights
The committee has also drawn up a voting booklet and a schedule for the planned merger.
On May 16, 2015, the two delegates' meetings of the former FSVA and SO associations will take place in the morning.
According to the Merger Act, three quarters of the delegates' votes must approve the merger agreement. If the delegates of both umbrella organizations approve the merger, the founding meeting of the new, single Swiss classic car umbrella organization will take place in the afternoon.
If everything goes as planned, the two existing associations will be united by mid-May 2015. A name for the new association has not yet been proposed, nor have the members of the new board. The member clubs, or rather their delegates, are now called upon to submit proposals, which will then be considered on May 16, 2015 when the new joint association is constituted.
