On the last Sunday in April (April 30, 2023), no heavy trucks will be parked in the truck park at the Grauholz freeway service area on the A1 in the direction of Bern. Instead, members of the Oldtimer Club Bern (OCB) and its French counterpart VCCSR (Vétéran Car Club Suisse Romand) will be presenting carefully restored and lovingly maintained veteran vehicles and youngtimers.
A commission has selected the exhibits based on several criteria. Among other things, the car show is intended to show "a representative cross-section from the beginnings to modern times with examples from every decade", as OCB President Kurt Laederach explains. Members of the OCB and the VCCSR will each provide 40 to 50 vehicles, which can be viewed on April 30 from 9:00 to 16:00.
The event was organized by the partners of the freeway service station: Tamoil, Socar and Grauholz AG. A large number of visitors are expected, because even on normal days, at least 4,000 people visit the service area, its petrol stations and catering outlets. "We assume that at least half of them will be looking at a few vehicles," says Roger Wyrsch, Managing Director of Hotel Restaurant Grauholz AG. In addition, there are all the others who are traveling to the event for the car show.
