Car Talk in a Family-Friendly Atmosphere
When major events like the Italian Car Meeting in Kemptthal or the OSMT in Zug draw crowds, smaller events often struggle to attract attention. But anyone who didn’t want to risk a long drive with an overheated radiator on this hot summer day was happy to enjoy some car talk right in their own neighborhood. And so, for the fifth time, dozens of enthusiasts gathered at the multi-brand classic car meet in St. Ehrhard. It’s no hidden gem, but it does have a cozy, family-like atmosphere.
In the Lucerne hinterland, between Spritzwerk Coloris and Stierli Automobile, the industrial site offers space for two to three hundred classic cars. And in glorious summer weather, they buzzed around like bees around flowers; there was a lively coming and going of classic cars between Sursee and Knutwil.
Dream Cars and Rarities
While perhaps not every make and model was represented, there was still a colorful array of brands and models on display. Whether it was an Opel Kadett GT/E or a Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, the parking lot was teeming with dream cars. Among them were rarities such as a Sunbeam Tiger, an Innocenti DeTomaso, and a VW Country Golf, which doesn’t look like a classic car at all, even though it’s long since passed the 30-year mark.
American cars were particularly well-represented, including a Dodge Challenger, a Chevrolet Corvette, and a Buick Skylark. There were also many other classics, such as a Volvo Amazon, an Alfa Spider Aerodinamica, a Willys Jeep, and a Ford Capri.
Parking Lot Parade and Shade
The parking lot parade was enough to make your head spin, especially if you hadn’t drunk enough water. With temperatures climbing to nearly 30 degrees at noon, many people were happy to take refuge in the open halls of local businesses, which not only offered shade but also, at the paint and body shop, a glimpse into their work. And at Classic Racer host René Dubacher’s, there were still a few bargains to be had in the sample clothing shop.
Amid food trucks and beverage stands, Quattrophonis provided live music. For the young band, it was a wild ride on the scorching asphalt—the bassist had only found out about the gig two days earlier and had barely had time to practice. And it all worked out. It’s just like with classic cars—passion is the lifeblood of every event
