On the weekend of September 3 and 4, 2016, the well-known and extremely popular Oldtimerclassic Hittnau will take place for the 10th time.
Every two years, fans of classic cars, motorcycles and airplanes come together on the road connecting the Glattal and Tösstal valleys in the canton of Zurich. The Oldtimerclassic Hittnau cleverly combines the events on the approximately one kilometer long circuit and the grass runway of the natural airport and thus manages to attract many classic car fans, including many families, every year.
Race park
The Oldtimerclassic Hittnau is not a race, but a demonstration drive. Although Riccardo Beccarelli will be competing in his "new" 1924 Delahaye 107 Racer, he will still be driving the oldest racing car at the event. The Sauber brand from neighboring Hinwil is represented by a C6 from 1982.
The categories Battle of the Dwarves, The Mountain is Calling, Drytech, Formula Cars, MSC Kart and Oldies, Battle of the Dwarves, Porsche, Youngtimer Touring Cars, Drifters, Autocross and Cross Sidecars, Motorcycle Oldies, Racing Machines, the 70's and Sidecars each have 10 to 20 vehicles at the start. 222 vehicles are registered in the race park.
Airplanes and helicopters
"Hittnau International Airport" will be open on September 3 and 4, 2016, with around 80 aircraft and helicopters taking off and landing on the meadow, which will be used as an airfield for two days. They fly laps and park next to the small control tower.
Masters of aerobatics perform breathtaking programs in the sky. The main rehearsal in Hittnau on Sunday is for the reigning 2015 Swiss Aerobatic Champion Isidor von Arx. After the demonstrations, he will fly straight on to Yverdon for the 2016 Swiss Aerobatic Championships. There are also plans to fly the world's largest single-engine biplane, the Antonov-2.
Gigantic jet truck from Indian Pete
Lots of chrome, huge exhaust pipes and a massive bullhorn, buffalo horns on the hood - this is what the oversized Peterbilt truck from "Indian Pete" looks like. When it is started, a huge jet of flame escapes from the two turbines. The engines, which originate from F4 Phantom aircraft, produce 12,000 hp. Indian Pete, Pieter Vereyen, was born in Canada, lives in Holland and has been a fan of Native North Americans from an early age. His show in Hittnau is his first appearance in Switzerland.
222 racing vehicles in 14 categories
Parade of vehicles
The parade of less racing vehicles is also always attractive. Again and again, extremely rare classics can be found here. The number of participants is limited to 80 and overtaking is prohibited.
