Contrary to standard industry practice, autosan Classic now allows young drivers to be integrated into the classic car tariff. For owners whose classic cars are still conventionally insured, this news comes at the right time. As a rule, anyone wishing to switch must cancel their insurance by November 30.
Classic car owners with offspring of an early driving age know the problem: most classic car insurance companies exclude young drivers. This is understandable from the insurance company's point of view, as young drivers have a significantly higher accident risk than middle-aged and older drivers with many years of driving experience. The higher risk cannot be reconciled with the low premium of a classic car tariff. But how can you get young drivers interested in historic vehicles if they are not allowed to drive them?
Good news comes from autosan Classic. If a few comprehensible conditions are met, young drivers can now also be integrated into the classic car tariff of this insurance company. At autosan CLASSIC, young drivers are defined as those under the age of 23 and who have held a driver's license for less than four years.
These are the conditions:
- The vehicle to be insured must be a motorcycle, a passenger car or a tractor with a minimum age of 30 years, i.e. an actual classic car.
- The maximum engine power is limited to 35 kW / 48 hp for motorcycles and 73 kW / 100 hp for cars. The engine power of tractors remains unrestricted.
- If the driver has held a driving license for less than one year, practical driving training must be completed and evidence of this must be provided.
- Due to the still higher risk, a premium surcharge is charged that is acceptable to both parties.
The precise examination of each individual case and the reservation of acceptance on the part of autosan Classic can also be understood. If all requirements are met, the young driver can be included in a contract as a user or insure a historic vehicle under his name. Of course, the basic conditions of the classic car tariff from autosan Classic also apply here, for example proof of garage and everyday vehicle. The additional conditions do not apply as soon as the driver in question is 23 years old and has held their driver's license for four years.
The fair offer for young drivers is another exclusive benefit of autosan Classic classic car insurance. Existing benefits include claims management with regard to quality craftsmanship, historical accuracy and thus value retention: free advice in the event of a claim on which work with which spare parts in which workshop is the best solution for the vehicle in question.
150 percent rule: repair of comprehensive damage even if the repair costs amount to 150 percent of the market value of the insured vehicle and it would normally be considered a total loss.
