The BMW Museum in Munich presents its visitors with the future of individual and interactive tours through the history of the joy of driving. They are accompanied on their chosen route through the exhibition rooms and provided with in-depth explanations of the museum departments and individual exhibits. The relevant information is provided in the form of audio and reading texts in seven languages. The BMW Museum app is available in two versions for devices with iOS and Android operating systems and has been available free of charge in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store since February 2016.
The past, present and future of the joy of driving
The BMW Museum presents the history, present and future of the joy of driving on an exhibition area of around 5,000 square meters. In the immediate vicinity of the company headquarters, together with BMW Welt and the BMW Group production plant, it forms the forum for a comprehensive brand experience. The permanent exhibition, which is divided into seven houses, provides a diverse insight into the history of the company and its vehicles. Among other things, more than 120 of the most valuable and important automobiles, motorcycles and engines from the history of the BMW brand are on display.
Explore vehicle history individually
With the help of the BMW Museum app, visitors can experience selected aspects, themes and eras of the brand's history in detail and be guided through the individual buildings in a customized sequence. The respective explanations are presented as audio texts on the smartphone or tablet. Alternatively, the content transmitted via stream can also be shown in written form, supplemented by images and short video clips, on the display of the relevant end device. An interactive map display makes it easier for users to find their way through the departments. Depending on personal interests, individual facets of the history such as motorsport, design, individual model series or decades of vehicle history can be explored individually.
All content in the BMW Museum App is available in German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.
Living history and interactive presentation
With the BMW Museum App, the future of the individual guided tour through the history of the company and its vehicles can already be experienced by a wide audience today. The digital offer is tailored to the needs of all age groups and, with its new form of information transfer, encourages visitors to engage even more intensively with particularly interesting topics in the permanent, temporary and special exhibitions. The combination of living history and interactive presentation with the help of digital technology is based on the concept of the BMW Museum, which spans the arc from the beginnings through the present to the future of the joy of driving. The BMW Museum App also offers users the opportunity to share the impressions gained during the excursion into the history of mobility directly via social networks. It also provides access to the latest information on news and events at the BMW Museum and BMW Welt.
