The new SwissClassics Revue is now available at newsstands and online. Issue 79-3 | 2020 is once again packed with reports, short articles, buying advice and much more. Readers should therefore not run out of reading material even during the current difficult times. Here are a few tidbits:
Opel versus Volkswagen - The battle for Switzerland
Two German car brands have always fought a fierce battle for market leadership in Switzerland - we are of course talking about Opel and Volkswagen. Both rivals had advantages and disadvantages and many incentives to buy, but in the end only one could emerge victorious. Was it Opel, which was able to win over many sympathizers from the outset with its variety of models? Or did VW take the victory home to Germany thanks to its consistently reliable models? We shed light on the exciting and no less fierce battle for supremacy and show models from both manufacturers in many pictures.
Buying advice Plymouth Barracuda
The sixties offered one thing above all: Ford Mustang and Chevrrolet Camaro - those American sports cars that continue to enjoy great popularity and still sell very often today and make appearances in films. But apart from these two trailblazers, it quickly becomes apparent that there are other models in the shadow of these two luminaries that unjustly have to eke out a lesser-known existence. One of these is the Plymouth Barracuda. We took it out of the shadow of its competitors and put together a comprehensive buying guide for anyone interested in buying an alternative to the Mustang and Camaro.
Triumph TR 4 - British with Italian features
The Triumph TR 4 impressed customers in many respects - be it the good driving experience, the convincing handling and the generous amount of space. Overall, the technical attributes were so good that it was possible to overlook the not-so-great comfort. But the TR 4 in particular has even more to offer, even today ...
Fabulous - Delahaye 135M Chapron Coupé Sport
A classic car is a vehicle, not a stationary vehicle - everyone knows that, of course. Nevertheless, there are models out there that haven't had a road under their tires for ages. One of these is the model with the rather difficult-to-pronounce name Delahaye 135M Chapron Coupé Sport. It was rediscovered by chance and completely restored. We took it for a spin and documented our impressions in words and lots of pictures. Of course, many details and key data on this extraordinary automobile should not be missing.
Villiger - A Swiss cigar in motorsport
Can you still remember the days when advertising addictive substances such as cigars was still permitted? Villiger was a brand that placed particular emphasis on advertising and did not rely solely on the usual channels of the time (e.g. print media). This brand also found its way into the premier class of motorsport and was able to establish itself successfully. We are now shedding light on this curiosity and showing it in words and pictures. This extraordinary story is not only worth reading for smokers.
