Issue 3/2020 of Porsche Fahrer is now available online and in stores. Instead of focusing on a specific target group, the magazine is open to a wide range of interests. This means that both classic car enthusiasts and those who are also interested in new inventions and further developments will once again get their money's worth.
Porsche 996 GT 2 - The other extreme
Do you know the Porsche 996 GT2? Probably already. But do you instinctively think of this model when you hear the words "milestones of 911 evolution"? Hardly. The 996 GT2 lives a shadowy existence and is always pushed into the background by the 992 GT2 and 997 GT2 RS models, even though it played a significant role in the development of the 911 series. In order to put this easily overlooked model in the spotlight and bring it closer to the readers, the editors of Porsche Fahrer wrote a comprehensive report ...
935 Baby & 935 GT2 RS - Baby Boom
Baby. That's what Jacky Ickx calls his one-off - a Porsche 935, which the Belgian drove in the 1977 racing season. But how did the "baby" come about in the first place? As the Group 5 Porsches stole the show from the other participants in the 1st Division races, the races became monotonous, which ultimately resulted in the television cameras focusing more on Zakspeed-Ford and Schnitzer-BMW, as they were still battling it out in the 2nd Division with engines of less than 2 liters displacement. In order to get back into the limelight, Porsche constructed the 935 Baby with the 1.4 liter turbo engine under enormous time pressure, which was driven by Jacky Ickx in 1977. Today, some 43 years later, the 935 Baby is back on the racetrack. This time, however, not with Ickx at the wheel, but with a rather nervous editor... I wonder if this will go well?
Porsche fans worldwide
Where would you expect to find one of the largest Porsche collections in the world? In New York? In Germany? In Italy? All wrong. One of the largest collections is in Chile, under the care of Daniel Necker. His enthusiasm for the cars from Zuffenhausen goes all the way back to Porsche's "inner circle". This is hardly surprising when you consider that the namesake of the 911 Targa is his godfather...
Harald Wagner - Only Targa, not Florio!
Harald Wagner is an important name in Porsche's company history. Through word of mouth, Wagner received an offer from Albert Prinzig to work for Porsche as a dealer. This offer was a forward-looking decision for Porsche... In fact, it was so forward-looking that Porsche honored Harald Wagner in a very special way after his retirement and immortalized him in the company and its history...
Happy ending - junkyard romance
The word "junkyard" sounds pretty nasty, hardly anyone will deny that. Rarely is a classic (or even a new car!) really just scrap and no longer usable. However, the fact that a scrapyard, especially for classic cars, does not necessarily have to be full of "junk" is proven by the "noble scrapyard" of the German Rudi Klein in Los Angeles. The editors of Porsche Fahrer were granted an exclusive insight into this resting place for classic cars, whose gates are always closed to the general public...
