The June issue of CURBS magazine has arrived. The 7th issue once again features interesting news from the world of historic motorsport.
BMW IMSA 1975/76
The cover story of the June issue is about Brian Redman, who won the 12 Hours of Sebring as part of the IMSA series in 1975 and the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1976 - he won both races in a BMW CSL Coupé. In an extensive six-page interview with Curbs, Redman talks about this "great time".
That was 1955
60 years ago, Mercedes-Benz won a sports car world championship for the first time - with a new design and without having driven all the races to the championship. The star of this victory was the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR.
Mercedes 300 SLR
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR from 1955 was far ahead of its competitors and is still considered invincible. In the only season in which the car was used, it won almost all races and helped Mercedes-Benz to its first sports car world championship victory (see "That was 1955").
Rainer Braun: Israel 1970
The 1970 Israeli GP is the only car race in Israel to date. What happened around the small town of Ashkelon back then is simply unbelievable in today's terms. Read for yourself...
Portrait of Willi Kauhsen
The "son" of Helmuth Bott, as Curbs calls him in the title, was a test driver for several generations of Porsche racing cars from 1968 to 1974. In the portrait, you learn about Willi Kauhsen's time as a successful racing cyclist, for example, or how he ultimately became a Porsche test driver and many other exciting aspects of his life and career.
Bosch Hockenheim Historic
The Bosch Hockenheim Historic took place again in Hockenheim in mid-April. Curbs talks about the major event and shows it in some interesting pictures.
Other topics
There are of course many other interesting racing topics on the 120 or so pages of the magazine, such as various race reports in addition to the Hockenheim Historic, including the 73rd Goodwood Members Meeting, the Vallelunga Classic, the popular Donington Historic Festival or the Tour Auto and many more.
The "Scene" section celebrates Werner Bührer's 80th birthday, "Cars in Detail" tells the story of the GRD Formula 3 and there is another interesting story from Formula Vee at the back of the magazine.
