The classic car trade fair Motorworld Classics Berlin, which will once again take place in the historic halls of Messe Berlin from October 4 to 7, 2018, will present special rarities from automotive history and some other highlights this year, including the Peel P50.
Peel P50 as a guest in Berlin
It is the smallest car in the world - the Peel P50 produced by the Peel Engineering Company on the Isle of Man. Between 1961 and 1963, around 120 examples of the 1.32 meter long, around one meter wide and 1.17 meter high three-wheeled small car were built.
Equipped with just one door, one windshield wiper and one headlight, the "oldie" has room for an adult and a shopping bag and was designed to beat the British weather and get its driver from A to B with dry feet. The vehicle on display at Motorworld Classics Berlin bears the production number 1 and is therefore probably the first Peel P50 in the world. It is being exhibited by PS. Speicher from Einbeck. It is normally on display there in the current special exhibition "small but mine".
Top seller from the Weimar Republic
What few people know today: In the 1920s, Brennabor-Werke from Brandenburg a.d. Havel was the largest automobile manufacturer in Germany. Launched in 1905, the company's vehicle production experienced its heyday during the Weimar Republic. The 1st Brennabor Association Brandenburg a.d. Havel will be exhibiting a Brennabor Type R, built in 1926, at Motorworld Classics Berlin.
Bulli meeting under the radio tower
A bit of nostalgia will certainly resonate at the first VW bus meeting at the classic car fair. Organized by the VW Bus T3 interest group, IG T3, owners of all rear-wheel-drive buses (T1, T2, T3) from Germany and abroad are invited to gather under the radio tower on 6 October 2018.
Engine bolts in the engine compartment
Hall 16 becomes the engine compartment. Visitors to Motorworld Classics Berlin can look over the shoulder of an expert at the live event organized by the workshop "Das Altblechwerk". Owner Sven Dühring is bringing a partially restored body of a Volkswagen Golf 1, built in 1977, to the trade fair, which is welded and painted, but completely empty. The corresponding engine (1.5 l with 51 kw) is gradually rebuilt on site in individual parts with all seals and bearings on an engine stand
Picnic with a view in the summer garden
Once again this year, sun loungers and culinary delights will invite trade fair visitors to enjoy a picnic in the oval and stepped summer garden under the Berlin Radio Tower. There will be plenty of entertainment, as owners of vintage and classic cars and motorcycles will be able to drive into the summer garden free of charge and show off their treasures.
