Truly a moving event - that was the presentation of the "Motorworld Book Prize 2023" on Tuesday, May 30, at Motorworld Munich. The most exciting and interesting new car books were chosen from around 70 submissions: a total of 21 literary works dealing with various aspects of mobility made the running in the categories "Brand", "Biography", "Motorsport", "Design" and "History". Several special prizes were also awarded.
The variety of topics covered by the award-winning books ranged from documentaries focusing on the history or models of Tatra, BMW, Glas or Harley Davidson to biographies of racing drivers such as Kurt Ahrens and Eberhard Mahle and a literary journey through Italian car design. The jury was also impressed by a Nürburgring album that perfectly reflects the zeitgeist of the 1960s with amateur photographs and a book with previously unpublished photographs by Edward Quinn, who captured the major motorsport events in Monaco in the 1950s and 1960s - including lifestyle, glamor and celebrities.
In terms of content, an insight into the garage of the last Shah of Iran, including the history of Iranian society and automotive culture, as well as a comprehensive work on the history of e-mobility from 1881 to the present day, also stood out. Two special surprises were the comprehensive presentation of Japanese automotive history and the Porsche 962, for which the jury created the extra category "Beyond Everything".
