At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, car manufacturer Morgan presented its latest model. Zwischengas does not normally report on modern cars, but there are good reasons to make an exception for this one.
The design of the Morgan Roadster has hardly changed since the 1960s. It looks like a retro sports car, but in principle it is simply a constantly modernized roadster with a classic design. Morgan has always been committed to sticking to the classic style and staying away from mass production. As a result, only around 800 cars are produced each year. The latest model is the best example of this.
Modern technology
If you take a look at the interior of the car, however, it quickly becomes clear that Morgan has long since arrived in the 21st century. The car is powered by an in-line six-cylinder twin-power turbo engine from BMW, which delivers 335 hp. From a standstill, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 in an incredible 4.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 267 km/h on the road. There is nothing retro about this performance.
The gearshift is automatic, which is almost a break in style for a Morgan, but is probably in keeping with the times.
Lightweight construction?
At 1075 kg, the car has remained comparatively light and provides a correspondingly sporty driving experience. The new Morgan also shines in terms of color. The company itself offers 28 different colors, including orange, yellow and green. But as we all know, you can order a Morgan in almost any color, at least that's how it used to be.
No longer as cheap as it once was
Of course, such a car also has its price. On the official Morgan website, the basic version of the Plus Six is already priced at 64,995 GBP or the equivalent of just under 86,000 CHF (75,935 EUR) and the most expensive version even costs the equivalent of over 119,000 CHF (105,140 EUR). Unfortunately, the average citizen will probably be left out in the cold here. But there is still the Plus 4, which is a little cheaper.
