The Lister was the most successful British sports car of the fifties. It won on almost every race track in Great Britain and was almost unbeatable. The factory in Cambridge is now venturing another round and bringing a piece of history into the present.
Lister Knobbly continuation cars
Two years ago (2014), Lister's first sports car celebrated its 60th birthday. The new owners of Lister took this as an opportunity to revive a piece of the company's history. Ten new "Lister Knobbly continuation cars" were built to the specifications of the 1958 model year.
The new, or rather old, model (price £ 295,000) was well received and all ten examples were sold. The cars took part in various historic motorsport events and beauty contests and were highly successful.
Lister Knobbly Stirling Moss
In June 2016, another series of such continuation cars was announced, the Lister Knobbly Stirling Moss. The model, as the name suggests, was the car in which Stirling Moss won at Silverstone in 1958. The cars are made by hand and are an exact replica of the super lightweight Lister Jaguar Knobbly from 1958.
The ten special editions are intended to honor Stirling Moss' time with Brain Lister's racing team. As none of the works cars have survived, the newly created sports cars are the only way to revive this part of Lister's history.
"The Knobbly remains one of my favorite racing cars. I remember getting into it in 1958 and thinking 'who is going to beat me in this?'" - "The Knobbly remains one of my favorite racing cars. I remember getting into it in 1958 and thinking 'who is going to beat me in this?" said Sir Stirling Moss.
Accordingly, the ten cars from 2016 will also be perfect for the racetrack and for battling their way to the top at historic motorsport events (racing versions come with an FIA HTP pass). If you want, you can also get the car with road approval and a redesigned interior.
